Santa Guadaña

"The Holy Death" and its "Grim Reaper" hold significant cultural symbolism for some Mexicans. Yet, thieves, drug dealers, and individuals distort them, seeking divine intervention for malevolent purposes. These flowerpots aim to channel positive intentions such as health, luck, or love, serving as offerings and symbols of wellness rather than harm.

"Armas Benditas" draws inspiration from Mexico's current struggles, where weapons have transitioned from tools for sustenance, protection, and liberation to symbols of violence that overshadow the nation's beauty and its people. In response, La Tlapaleria has crafted "Armas Benditas" (Blessed Weapons): instruments not only for Mexico but for the world, amplifying the forces of labour, health, protection, and emotions.

Exhibited at Wanted Design NYC 2014.
