In Swedish, "Gesällprov" is the final examination that students in the upholstery department at Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies must pass to graduate from this esteemed institution in Stockholm, Sweden. The Cool Chair is a masterpiece designed specifically for this challenge in partnership with a student from this department. This chair is the culmination of over a year of development (May 2012 – June 2013).
All the materials used on the chair were selected to uphold traditions in a contemporary approach to textile utilization. Expert evaluation throughout the process resulted in a score of 4.6 out of 5 possible points. With this exceptional evaluation, Karoliina Priha bypassed a second test and achieved the title of Master Upholster. It was a privilege to collaborate with her.
